Constitution In Hand, Rahul Gandhi Takes Oath As MP Amid 'Bharat Jodo' Chants

Amid chants of Bharat Jodo and a copy of the Indian Constitution in his hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took the oath as a member of the Lok Sabha this afternoon. Mr Gandhi has been elected from two seats -- Wayanad and Raebareli. He will be vacating the Wayanad seat that will now be contested by his sister and Congress leader, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
"I, Rahul Gandhi, having been elected a member of the House of People, do solemnly affirm that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established, that I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India, and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter. Jai Hind, Jai Samvidhan," Mr Gandhi said, taking the oath.
