Saket Sethi, director, Archilogics Design, says the first step towards keeping the house cool is to identify the source of the heat, which could be a window, a wall or a ceiling. The solution could be as simple as changing the glass on the window to adding plants in the area to the double-layering of windows. In case you plan to have huge glass windows or glass walls, avoid the walls facing south or west, as these are the directions where most of the heat comes from. The best way to avoid heat is to have thicker walls, which is a very doable in case of independent houses.
