Cop Killed In Action, 3 Terrorists Shot Dead In Overnight Encounter In Jammu and Kashmir
A policeman died in the line of duty and three terrorists were shot dead in an overnight encounter near Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The gun-battle broke out after a joint team of J&K police and the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) came under attack. A senior police officer said that the terrorists attacked a check-post in an attempt to snatch weapons from policemen at Panthachowk, on the outskirts of Srinagar, late last evening. The security personnel retaliated and when the terrorists tried to escape, they were chased and cornered in an adjacent neighbourhood.
