"Maharashtra is in the beginning of a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and there is very limited active effort to track, test, isolate cases and quarantine contacts." These are the strong observations made by a central team of experts that visited Maharashtra's worst-affected districts between 7-11 March. The central team has also noted that measures like lockdown have very limited impact and the state should focus on containment strategies. The centre has asked the state to ramp-up testing and contact tracing and address vaccine hesitancy among frontline workers.
