PM Modi's praise gracious, Sonia Gandhi didn't rebuke me: Shashi Tharoor to NDTV
On a day Congress MP Shashi Tharoor got praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "saying what Indians feel" at the Oxford Union debate, he dismissed all rumours that he is joining the BJP. "I am not about to join the BJP, far from it, and at the same time I don't believe that the Congress party has any desire to get rid of me because Prime Minister had something good to say," he said. Talking about disruptions in Parliament, he blamed the BJP for setting the "standards". He said that though it made him sad that his party had to resort to it, he stands by the party's decision. "We should be able to debate the law rather than disrupt the debate," he said, adding that "there is a historical background sadly that has brought us to this point. And this historical background involves 10 years of the present government conducting itself in Opposition in a manner that has set the standards for others. I wish those standards hadn't been set," he said.
