The Calcutta High Court delivered a huge snub to the Mamata Banerjee government today, ordering a CID enquiry into the lynching of two CPM leaders in Burdwan on February 22 and saying that after nine months in power, it cannot keep blaming the previous Left government for all problems. The court's order came on a day Mamata's nephew got bail after spending just one night in jail for assaulting a traffic policeman. The last week has been particularly tough for Mamata whose insensitive remarks against rape and murder victims have left many astonished.
