In the last five years, development has come to Nandigram assembly constituency in West Bengal. Instead of wading through slush, villagers now have paved roads. There is water, power and streetlights, a new multi-specialty hospital. Villagers are full of praise for their Trinamool Congress MP and now assembly candidate Suvendu Adhikari. But it sits oddly with their revelation that local leaders were corrupt and worse, the most vulnerable were denied the benefit of government schemes. Sutapa Deb reports.
