A day after the army carried out strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan finds itself on the back foot - it has increased security presence and is observing its highest state of vigil along the LoC, Working Boundary and the International Border. The country is also facing increasing isolation, after Sri Lanka became the fifth nation to pull out of the 19th SAARC Summit in Islamabad, citing regret over the 'prevailing environment'. The Pakistan Army's claims that it had killed Indian soldiers during the strike were rubbished by India, with army sources saying the footage Pakistani channels were playing was 'morphed and doctored' and just 'black propaganda'. While many have pointed out that the latest surgical strikes were not a one-off event, it certainly signals an overt change in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pakistan policy. Will it be India's new normal?
