CSIR-NIIST Preparing Food Items With Longer Shelf Life For Wayanad Landslide Victims

As disaster relief personnel, the government and volunteers push through to restore some order to the lives of those devastated by the Wayanad landslides, technology is playing a big role. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or CSIR's - National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram is working non-stop to prepare food items for the survivors. The NIIST team has converted its incubation cell for technology transfer into a food processing and production unit with more than 70 people coming together to make 1000 packets of each food item.
