The death of a young man in Jharkhand who apparently sent a message on WhatsApp about beef is raising serious questions. 22-year old Minhaj Ansari died in a hospital he was taken to by the Jharkhand Police less than a week after he was arrested for his reportedly "objectionable" WhatsApp message on beef. His family says he was tortured in custody, the police claims he was suffering from encephalitis. The officer-in-charge has now been suspended and a high-level inquiry ordered. A post-mortem report on Ansari's death is still awaited.
