Unveiled globally on April 14th, the production version redi-GO carries over most of the styling elements from the concept model. Pre-bookings for the hatchback will commence from May 1 and official launch is expected to take place on June 1. Rivalling Maruti Alto 800 and Renault Kwid in the crowded budget segment, Datsun redi-GO will be priced below its French cousin Renault Kwid at around Rs 2.5 lakh. Inside the cabin, the ac controls and music system are quite conventional, but the car scores well on space front offering ample head room and best in class boot space. Driver airbag will be available on select variants and AMT transmission will also be offered in future. The company is quite confident about the new mass product and export plans are on cards, with India being the production base.
