A 14-day extravaganza is being held in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's native village of Saifai even as hundreds of people, displaced by the Muzaffarnagar riots, continue to battle extreme cold in relief camps. But Mr Yadav, who has come under intense attack owing to the plight of the people at these camps, has cried conspiracy, blaming the media and the opposition for not focussing on the government's relief efforts. But with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav still to visit those displaced by the deadly communal clashes, is the Saifai carnival further proof of the state government's apathy and grossly-misplaced priorities?
