Decade Before Sikkim Floods, There Were Warnings. Could We Have Averted It?
The big question on the Sikkim floods is if could have prevented this disaster. Climate change increases the risk of glaciers melting. In 2013, two ISRO scientists and another from the Indian Institute of Science had warned that the South Lhonak glacier in Sikkim is receding and that the possibility of a lake outburst was very high.
