Deciphering the Sundarbans

The richest mangrove forest in the world the Sundarbans. The Sundarbans Tiger Reserve is in the most unique landscape and environment in India. It is home to nearly 100 tigers. In this special episode of the Aircel-NDTV Save Our Tigers Campaign we go deep into the islands in the bay of Bengal to uncover the myth of the man-eating tiger, to reveal the impact made by the Rapid Response Unit Boats provided by the contributions of the 1st telethon and to see how the local communities are benefiting in this harsh environment thanks to tourism and other initiatives being provided by the forest department. Man-Animal conflict still remains a big issue in this area of the West Bengal but the measures being taken provide hope that mitigation measures if strengthened could reduce conflicts.
