Decision On Grain Buffer Stock Taken In 1969 Useful In COVID-19 Crisis
At a time when the country is under lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic, the buffer stock of grain in Punjab is being used to provide food for millions, thanks to a decision taken 50 years ago. The concept of buffer stock was first introduced during the fourth Five Year Plan (1969-74) and has come to the rescue of the poor during this humanitarian crisis.
