AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria talks about the increase in number of young people dying due to Covid amid the second wave in India. "An issue is many people are delaying treatment, a large number of young people feel they will become alright and they stay at home and wait till their saturation dips to the 80s and then try and find a hospital bed." He said if someone is in home isolation and "there are red signs, saturation comes closer to 90, you're having difficulty breathing, if you have high grade fever which is not coming down on the 5th or 6th day, you must not delay and contact your doctor and get admitted." Sometimes the delay is the cause of the mortality than the disease itself, he said.
