Denim producers gear up for lean period

With rising cotton prices and falling exports, the going is likely to be tough for denim producers in India. "Yes there may have been some slight pressure but I think we are ok for 2006," said Pradeep Bhandari, Group President, Raymond. In the last two months, denim prices have already dropped by 15-20 per cent and as a result, there has been a huge capacity build up in Bangladesh, Turkey and Pakistan.
