To limit global warming to a safe level which is 1.5°C above the pre-industrial level, the world has to reduce global net carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 compared to 2010 levels of emissions. "If pledges made at COP26 were to be implemented, they would reduce the potential increase in temperature to 1.8°C", says Katiuscia Fara, Senior Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor, United Nations World Food Programme.
