When Ashwin Karthik graduated in 2005, he found no one would give him a job. Ashwin has a form of cerebral palsy accompanied by quadriplegia and uses a wheelchair. Being turned down for a job is a common rejection that people face, but in Ashwin's case, he attended an astounding 45 unsuccessful job interviews. He is India's first computer engineer with cerebral palsy. Why, despite the merit, is it so difficult for people with disabilities to find jobs? And how can we change these dismal employment rates?
