The Karnataka suspense over the Chief Minister's post after the Congress's emphatic victory appears headed towards a conclusion with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge scheduling meetings with the two contenders this evening. The meeting with state party chief DK Shivakumar is over and Mr Kharge is now meeting former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Mr Shivakumar has made it clear that he would not back down in the tense rivalry with Siddaramaiah. But he said he would not resort to "backstabbing or blackmail", regardless of the party's decision. He also ruled out quitting.
