The bypoll for the erode east assembly seat in Tamil Nadu has turned into a high stakes battle for both the ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK. The DMK sees this as a referendum on Chief Minister MK Stalin's 19-month-long government and a prelude to the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls.
