Karnataka on Friday witnessed a state-wide bandh over the Cauvery River water issue. Forty-four flights scheduled to take off and land at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Friday were cancelled, while over 50 members of pro-Kannada organisations protesting over the water dispute near Bengaluru were detained. Was the bandh, which has caused losses to businesses in Karnataka, necessary?
