Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured people that their bank deposits will be safe and that their interests will not be harmed in any way, amid worries over what is being called a "bail-in" provision in a new proposed banking law. PM Modi described them as rumours and asserted that the proposed Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FRDI) Bill seeks to strengthen the banking system.
