As India is in the grip of the second wave of coronavirus, doctors talk about the struggle they face every day. They dread the calls they receive from friends and families asking for a hospital bed, and say the Covid crisis is out of control. Given the situation, Dr Sankaran Sundaran, head of international transplant services at Manipals Hospitals, says the lockdown is a relief, and will give hospitals a chance to expand facilities. Dr Saswati Sinha of Kolkata's AMRI Hospitals says even if hospitals expand facilities, it will be difficult to get more doctors and medical staff.
