The Central government's decision to rename the historic Rajpath and Centre Vista lawns in Delhi stretching from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate as 'Kartavya Path' has sharply divided opinions. As far as the BJP government is concerned, this renaming is all part of the Prime Minister's larger message to abolish symbols of our colonial past. The PM has also been stressing on duties, rather than the rights of citizens - all of this government officials say is behind the renaming of Rajpath. The whole stress on duties as opposed to rights has become more and more common in Mr Modi's public statements. Is this an attempt to seek the loyalty of citizens and attempt to shift the narrative?
