E-Shram Expanded To Benefit Online Platforms' Gig Workers

Gig workers of online platforms will be provided with identity cards and registration on the e-Shram portal. They will also be provided with healthcare under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana. This will likely help one crore gig workers.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the first full budget under the Modi 3.0 government, marking her 8th consecutive budget. In her opening address, she emphasized the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) free of poverty, with quality education, accessible and affordable healthcare, and comprehensive reforms. She outlined that this budget will focus on reforms across six key areas: taxation, urban development, mining, financial sector, power, and regulatory frameworks.
