India and France are celebrating 60 years of friendship in space, now the two all-weather friends are joining hands to make a constellation of satellites. In 1963, when India launched its first small rocket from Thumba in Kerala, the French were part of it. Today, the two collaborate in satellites, rockets and applications. In fact, all Indian large rockets have a French signature on them through the Viking or the Vikas engine the two developed. NDTV's Pallava Bagla spoke to Thomas Pesquet, a French astronaut who is in India on a friendship visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now India and France are co-operating for India's most expensive space mission the Gaganyaan project. Mr Pesquet will interact with India's four astronaut designates to share his experience of living more than a year in weightless conditions of space.
