Economy Grows 13.5% In June Quarter, Other Top Stories

India's economy grew 13.5 per cent in the April-June quarter from a year ago, its fastest annual expansion in a year, but lower than broadly predicted by economists, analysts and the Reserve Bank of India. A suspended BJP leader accused of torturing her domestic help at her Jharkhand home, even smashing her teeth with an iron rod and starving her, was arrested this morning. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday lashed out at the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and criticised its "excessive prachaar-prasaar" (publicity) besides its alleged lack of sensitivity towards the needs of the states and other top stories.
