Election Commission: Powerless against freebies?
Ahead of the elections in Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK and DMK have been outdoing each other in buying the voters' affections by offering freebies. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi says that while the promises made in manifestos are excessive, they are helpless to act, since the manifesto is a legitimate form of political activity.
