Punjab has logged over 36,000 COVID-19 cases with more than 900 deaths. With record number of new cases in 24 hours, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has announced a major clampdown across the state. DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary Medical Education & Research, Punjab, tells NDTV, "Out of 8,19,000 samples collected, nearly 36,000 tested positive. That is about 4.4% and is still within the control limits. The chief minister has also announced measures to control Punjab's doubling rate keeping in mind the state's health facilities in private and government sectors."
