In what's being seen as former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy tacitly taking over AIADMK, the party's headquarters office-bearers who met in Chennai today under his leadership decided to go ahead with its plan to hold the general council meet on the 11th of July to move a resolution to make him the General Secretary of the party. The EPS camp has already announced that there is no dual leadership in the party anymore as the general council held last week did not ratify their appointment. OPS has called this meet illegal. Though OPS wants dual leadership to continue, EPS claims majority support and wants singular leadership for what his camp calls quick decision making and strengthening the party. NDTV's Sam Daniel spoke to senior AIADMK leader Mr D Jayakumar from the EPS camp on the legality of the meet and his response to OPS' view on these developments.
