The lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus is only likely to worsen the crisis of rising hunger in India. Many say the crisis can be tackled by unlocking the country's overflowing government godowns and give free grains not just to those who have ration cards but also tens of thousands who don't. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan told NDTV that the onus of distribution of excess food grains lies not just with the centre but also with the states.
