Old allies in the northeast, the Mizo National Front (MNF) is seen distancing itself from the BJP following the ethnic violence in neighbouring Manipur. It seems to be casting a shadow over the BJP's relations with its northeast regional allies like the MNF. Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga recently said he will not share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his campaign for the assembly polls in the state to be held on November 7. The remarks came as PM Modi is expected to visit Mizoram next week to campaign for the BJP.
