At this farm in Punjab, paddy is grown using very little water, without flooding the field as is the case with the traditional method of rice cultivation. The farm uses an innovative rice or paddy cultivation technique called Direct Seeding Rice, or the DSR method, where rice seeds are sown directly into the field and don’t require transplantation of seedlings like in the conventional method. According to experts, the DRS method has several benefits, like water conservation and lower input costs.
