A viral video showing a group of people being beaten up by police is circulating on social media with the claim that the individuals were part of a procession supporting the Waqf Board in Patna, in the Indian state of Bihar. An X user shared the video with the caption, "Bihar: People of a particular community creating disturbance by taking out a procession in support of the Waqf Board in Patna have forgotten that this is not the government of Lalu and Tejaswi! It is a coalition government of Nitish Kumar and BJP. Police first explained to them with love but when they didn't listen, the police were forced to act (translated from Hindi)." What are the facts? At the 1:04 timestamp of the viral video, one individual is heard saying, "We were demanding madrasa salaries. Our demands are not being fulfilled." This indicates the protest was unrelated to the Waqf Board. A reverse image search of keyframes from the video led us to reports from various media outlets confirming that the footage is from a 2015 protest in Patna.
