An RSS-supporter speaking to NDTV said that even though he wasn't in the "business of seat prediction", he said the fall in the number of seats of the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls will "not be the kind that is being predicted". On being asked how many seats he expects the NDA to get, Abhijit Dwivedi says, "Not saying it will be 400 or 500 but it will not be the kind of fall that is being predicted, if there is going to be a fall." BJP general secretary Ram Madhav predicted in a recent interview with Bloomberg that his party will fall short of an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha elections. This was the first instance of somebody from the BJP speaking of such a possibility, given party president Amit Shah's repeated claims at election rallies that they will get a clear majority with over 300 seats.
