Actress Kangana Ranaut, essaying the role of J Jayalalithaa, has received backlash for her make up in the film. Many say she doesn't resemble J Jayalalithaa. Meanwhile, Deepa, Jayalalithaa's niece has moved the Madras High court seeking a direction that the movie cannot be made without her nod. The film by AL Vijay is slated for release in June next year.
