Farm Reforms Pro Or Anti-Farmer?
The agriculture bills are being seen as the biggest reforms in the agriculture sector since the green revolution. The government feels that this will revolutionize the farming sector and improve the lives of farmers by giving them more money for their produce. It will end the exploitation at the hands of the middlemen, they say. But then its ally, the Shiromani Akali Dal, the opposition and farmers in Haryana and Punjab are up in arms.They have taken this as the first step to corporate slavery for the farmers. The question is: Are the new farm reform bills pro-farmer?
