Farmer suicides: No help for farmers

NDTV had pointed out in an exclusive ground report earlier this week that no one, not even the government, is really keeping count of the number of farmers who are ending their lives, hopeless. Uma Sudhir tracks the story of one family in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh that despite being eligible under government-specified criterion for getting compensation, has got no help at all. The mother is living under the constant fear that moneylenders may forcibly take her children away to work as bonded labour. The government says it is committed to help every such family but why it is not happening remains unanswered.
