Exactly a year ago, the government passed three farm laws and lost a key allaince in the process, the Shiromani Akali Dal. These laws united several farm unions in the country and it has been a year of multiple protests. But even after a year of protests and negotiations, mostly failed talks, the situation remains the same. The centre will not roll back the laws and the farmers won't settle for anything less than complete withdrawal. Politically, the farmers today have more support. But how long will it last?
