Tear gas shells were fired as farmers on Friday tried to break barricades set up at the Haryana border to stop them from beginning their foot march to Delhi. Multi-layered barricading and iron meshes were set up at the Shambhu border to ensure that the farmers are not able to enter Haryana. Police personnel were seen firing tear gas shells from the rooftop of a house to disperse the protesters as a few farmers holding farmers' unions' flags pushed the iron mesh, put up by the security personnel, down the bridge constructed over the Ghaggar River.
