Is there a generation gap in contemporary Indian art? A yawning disconnect between veterans and young artists? At a competition for awards instituted by CIMA Art Gallery, one of Kolkata's best known, there was no escaping these questions as top artists judged 196 pieces of youthful art to find the best. They did, of course, but the generational conflict of concepts was disruptive. But then disruptive, they say, is progress.
