July rain in Maharashtra has broken a 40-year-old record. Rain has brought devastation in Konkan region of the state, especially in Ratnagiri and Raigad. The incessant rain has flooded Chiplun and Khed in Ratnagiri and Mahad in Raigad district. The Mumbai-Goa highway has been shut and several long-distance trains have been stopped, cancelled or rescheduled on the Konkan Railway route. According to rail officials, around 6,000 passengers were stranded in trains which were regulated at various stations on the Konkan Railway route.
