Focus on policy implementation and accountability: Bimal Jalan
Union Budget 2013 must continue to focus on fiscal consolidation by reducing wasteful expenditure and also improving tax collections by simplifying the tax regime, says Dr. Bimal Jalan, former governor of the RBI. He, however, adds that while putting down sound policies on paper is important, implementation of these policies and accountability of the government machinery is equally critical.
