September 17 is going to be a day of much political activity in Telangana. It is not just the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Birthday but also the day when the erstwhile Hyderabad State under the Nizam acceded to the Indian Union more than a year after India attained independence. This year, for the first time, the Central government has decided to celebrate it as Hyderabad Liberation Day whereas the Telangana government, in what is seen as competitive politics. Interestingly, MIM's Asaduddin had also written to the Centre and the state government asking for the day to be celebration as National Integration Day. While Home Minister Amit Shah will hoist the national flag at Parade Ground, the chief minister will unfurl the tricolour at Public Gardens. Both the leaders will also hold public meetings.
