Unfazed by critics who challenge his achievements, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is literally speeding ahead. With an ambitious aim of Rs 5 lakh crore in highway contracts over the next few years, he is plotting better roads, safer vehicles, cleaner fuel, smart cards and turning rivers into motorways of tomorrow. If he succeeds, experts say, he can be a gamechanger in PM Modi's quest to return to power in 2019.
