Sikhs in the United States have come to the rescue of authorities who have been overwhelmed by the pandemic. Sikhs in New York City, the worst-hit city in the world, have been doing relief work in the form of langar or free food from a community kitchen and groceries since late March. Not only is this, as the Black Lives Matter protests took over the nation, Sikhs also started supporting the marches by providing hot meals at the end of the peaceful protests.
