We have become used to internet-connected devices and smart gadgets in everyday life. Aside from smartphones, we have smart refrigerators, smart lights, smart speakers, smart appliances and much more. But did you know that the number of internet-connected devices has officially surpassed the global human population? That's right, there are more "things" chatting online than actual people! It is estimated that there are over 30 billion internet-connected devices in the world, while the human population is around 8.1 billion. That means that there are about 3.75 internet-connected devices on average for every single person on this planet. This number shows how plugged in our lives have become and how rapid advancements in technology have transformed consumer products. And IoT products are only going to expand more. The internet of things (IoT) is the term used to describe the network of devices that can communicate and exchange data with each other via the internet. These are expected to grow exponentially, from smart homes to smart cities.
