Game of Political One-Upmanship at Aligarh Muslim University?
There is a fresh row involving the Aligarh Muslim University. The Vice Chancellor has written to HRD Minister Smriti Irani asking for her intervention to avoid a potential "communal conflagration" on the university campus. The matter involves the local BJP unit's demand to hold a function on December 1, celebrating a local Jat king's birth anniversary, also a donor to the university. We ask, is it fair to play petty divisive politics over educational institutions? Is the AMU being used as a tool for polarisation?
