Some 9,000 Congress leaders voted today to elect a non-Gandhi as the party chief, a first in over 20 years. When asked about whether Mallikarjun Kharge is going to be "Gandhi's remote control" if he wins, author Tavleen Singh said, "He will obviously be a remote-control." She said the Gandhi family is the core of the Congress party. However, the Gandhi family should take a backseat, Ms Singh said.
